About Us

Working For A Purpose Foundation is a 501 C3 non-profit organization assisting and supporting single-parent families in our community. The organization was founded in March of 2020 by Monica Hester. As her life ventured into the world of single parenthood, it opened her eyes to see a great need in the community. A need to address the many mothers and fathers who struggle daily with raising children on their own. Through this vision, Monica noticed one thing we all hear daily, "it takes a village" when raising children. A village to provide clothing, food, safety, shelter & a good foundation to which some may not have consistent access.

With this passion growing in her heart, she knew it was laid on her to take action. To make a change in the evident growth of hardships & the fulfilling the needs in our community, Working For A Purpose Foundation was established to do just that. As of 2021, there are about 14 million single parents here in the U.S. today & that the number is rising. Which means we have a lot of work to do and families to touch.

Biography

Monica Hester

Founder & Executive Director

Monica Hester is a dedicated community advocate and the founder of a nonprofit organization established in March 2020. Driven by her personal journey into single parenthood, Monica recognized a profound need within her community: the countless mothers and fathers who face the daily challenges of raising children on their own.
Monica's vision was born from lived experience and observation. As she navigated the complexities of single parenthood, she witnessed firsthand the struggles that many families endure in silence. She saw parents working multiple jobs to make ends meet, children lacking basic necessities, and families without a reliable support system. This reality opened her eyes to a critical gap in community resources and support.
Embracing the wisdom that "it takes a village" to raise children, Monica founded her organization on this timeless principle. She understands that no parent should have to navigate the journey alone, and that community support is not just beneficial—it's essential. Her organization serves as that village, providing vital resources including clothing, food, safety, shelter, and a strong foundation for families who may not have consistent access to these necessities.
Through her leadership, the organization has become a beacon of hope for single-parent households, offering not just material support but also dignity, compassion, and community connection. Monica believes that every child deserves stability and every parent deserves support, regardless of their circumstances.
Monica's work continues to transform lives, one family at a time. Her commitment to building stronger communities through practical support and genuine care exemplifies servant leadership at its finest. By addressing both immediate needs and long-term stability, she is helping to break cycles of hardship and create pathways to brighter futures for single-parent families.
Today, Monica remains devoted to expanding the organization's reach and deepening its impact, ensuring that no single parent in her community has to face their challenges alone.
